Overview: Join us on Thursday September 15th, 2022 from 5-7pm for the Vinton County Chocolate Walk. During this “sweet” event, ticket holders will visit our Gold Retailers downtown shops and restaurants to collect delectable treats and take advantage of specials. We will also have Silver Retailers set up their own table (tent/booth) in certain locations. Deadline for ticket purchase is Thursday September 8th by 11:30pm EST.Benefits to the Community: • All proceeds from this event will go to The Weller Scholarship Fund • The Weller Scholarship Fund has been established to assist at least one individual from Vinton County each year with college education expenses • The Weller Scholarship has assisted 10 students to date with college expenses • The amount for 2023 is $1,500.00. The deadline is April 30, 2023 at 11:59 pm EST • Details and application can be found at www.WellerScholarship.org Benefits to Walkers: • Lots of sweet treats! • See products offered by our local merchants • Visit with your friends and family • Get outside, exercise and get your steps in!! • One hardbound copy of “The Journey 3” will be given away in a random drawing for anyone who purchases a ticket by 11:59pm EST on Thursday September 1st. The Journey 3 is 8 short stories about all of the Weller Scholarship Events from the past. • Your donation to this event gets invested into the students from Vinton County! Details: Ticket-holders will first check in at the Weller Scholarship Table, which will be located near McClure's Parking lot. Ticket holder will receive their Chocolate Walk map and "Goodie Bag". Check-in begins at 4:30pm EST. Follow the map to MANY participating destinations in downtown McArthur and receive a tasty chocolate treat at each stop. Please plan to browse the booths, through stores, pick up some unique items and have dinner before or after the event! The Chocolate Walk will happen rain or shine. No ticket refunds available. If it rains….bring your umbrella! FAQs: Is there an age limit to enter the event? - There is no age limit for walkers. But every attendee, no matter the age, needs a ticket to participate in the event to receive chocolate treats. The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay? - Yes. You can buy up to 6 tickets per transaction and they can all be under your name, but given to other attendees. How am I identified as a Chocolate Walker? - Upon check-in, you will be given a “Goodie Bag” that signifies you are a participant so you can receive your treat at each location. What do I need to bring for the Chocolate Walk? - You will be walking about 1-2 miles, so wear a comfortable pair of shoes. You will be outside most of the time, so correct clothing for the weather is important. Where do I start? - Ticket-holders will first check in at the Weller Scholarship Table, which will be located near McClure's Parking lot. Ticket holder will receive their Chocolate Walk map and "Goodie Bag". Check-in begins at 4:30pm EST. From there you can follow the map however you'd like!
