The Historical Society of Rockland County Invites You to Celebrate the Unveiling of the Literary Landmark Marker at Pretty Penny with Joyce Bulifant and the Families of Helen Hayes and Charles MacArthur When: Saturday, October 8, 2022, 3 pm sharp Where: 235 North Broadway, Upper Nyack, 10960 (street parking only) Price: $75 per person (Space is extremely limited, and prepaid reservations are required) This event will include the unveiling of a special marker designating Pretty Penny as a Literary Landmark. Special guests will share fond memories of Helen Hayes, Charles MacArthur, and their beautiful Upper Nyack home. The marker will be unveiled, and a Champagne Reception will follow. Literary Landmarks is a program of United for Libraries, a Division of the American Library Association. Net proceeds benefit the Historical Society of Rockland County. Special thanks to the Araders for their support of this special event benefiting the HSRC. (Please note that the interior of Pretty Penny will not be accessible during the event.) About Joyce Bulifant: The beloved actress Joyce Bulifant is remembered for her recurring role of Marie Slaughter (wife of Murray Slaughter) on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was married to Helen Hayes's son James MacArthur, who is remembered for his starring role on Hawaii Five-O. *** Additional exciting events will take place in celebration of the Literary Landmark at Pretty Penny: Friday, October 7, 8 pm: Rivertown Film Society presents Helen Hayes on Film: When the First Lady of Broadway Conquered Hollywood.
