Scenes are the building blocks of stories and novels. Mastering scene-writing is a powerful way to develop characters and to increase tension and suspense. In this workshop, you will gain a deeper understanding of how you can use scenes, alongside summary, to build stories and novels that have dramatic power and emotional impact.
This is an in-person writers workshop, held at the Pat Conroy Literary Center as part of the Pat Conroy Literary Festival. Limited to 20 participants; $45/person.
About our instructor:
Mindy Friddle’s novel Secret Keepers won the Willie Morris Award for Southern Fiction. The Garden Angel, her first novel, was selected for Barnes and Noble’s Discover Great New Writers program. Mindy’s short fiction has appeared in storySouth, Orca, Sinking City, LitMag, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Southern Humanities Review, and many others. Regal House is publishing Mindy’s third novel, Her Best Self, in 2024. She lives on Edisto Island, South Carolina.
