In this 4-hour class, You will transform a 1” by 1/8” steel bar into a hand sculpture. This class will cover hot cutting, filing, and using tools to make add textural details. The hands can be posed in any gestures and can be made to hold small objects, make bottle openers, back scratchers, or other objects. Students should have basic blacksmithing experience (i.e. a prior blacksmithing class at LMN or some other experience) as this class assumes students have an understanding of basic technique. Please wear work boots or shoes made from leather or canvas (no nylon, it melts!). Wear natural fiber clothing (cotton is best). Safety glasses are required and will be provided, but if you have a pair you're comfortable in, consider bringing your own. Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
