DANBURY, CT — The city is offering all qualified taxpayers the opportunity to delay payment of real estate, property and utility taxes, charges and assessments for 90 days.
The tax deferment program is open to all qualified residents, non-profits and businesses, including landlords. To qualify, taxpayers must attest that their income has decreased by at least 20 percent due to COVID-19 and since April have been furloughed without pay, had hours reduced or been unemployed.
Business and non-profit taxpayers must have a 30 percent decrease in expected revenue in the October 2020 to January 2021 period versus the October 2019 to January 2020 period. There are special provisions related to landlords.
Taxpayers must file their application, with supporting documentation, no later than Feb. 1.
