Established Philadelphia area singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist with over 25 years experience looking for lead guitarist to form an acoustic duo. Backing vocals preferred but not necessary. The days of “classic rock” being played by acoustic acts at bars and restaurants have passed. It’s Gen-X who are now the patrons of said establishments and we don’t want to hear worn out covers of Billy Joel or Elton John songs. Those of us in our 30’s-60’s don’t want to hear the same old covers anymore. So, I want to put together an set list of 80’s & 90’s alternative tunes that our generation love and miss (with some 2000’s thrown in for good measure. A little bit of everything. So basically I want to do alternative pop/rock songs from our generation. Especially some kind of obscure but known MTV 120 minutes type of stuff. The problem is that the majority of acoustic acts still play classic rock songbook crap. The issue is that the boomer generation who grew up with that music are now in their 70’s and 80’s and don’t go out to bars to hear music anymore. So at best you have 2 or 3 bar patrons enjoying the music but in general the acts just become background noise. But our generation that grew up with music of the 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s are the ones going to the restaurants and bars and we want to hear our generation’s music. So this concept is technically still an original niche concept that will prove to be incredibly popular. I was putting together this act as a solo but it’s so much more fun playing with someone else (especially someone who is a better guitarist than me). I have 25+ years singing any playing professionally in a few well known Philly/NYC based indie rock bands playing everywhere from dive bars to the TLA, Northstar Bar, and Trocadero in Philly and venues such as Kenny’s Castaways, The Bitter End, and Webster Hall in NYC. I’m a very youthful 47 (young mentally and in looks…ish lol). I have pro gear, pa’s, mics, etc. I’d like to play out as often at bars and restaurants around Philly, Bucks County, NJ, NYC as possible. This is for the fun of playing but making extra money is always nice 😉 So send me an email and hopefully we can get together to see if we can make this work.
