DOPE IS DEATH2020 ‧ 1h 22m
Amidst the 1970s heroin epidemic in NYC, the Young Lords and Black Panthers fought for radical change. Through the leadership of Dr. Mutulu Shakur—Tupac Shakur’s stepfather—these revolutionaries created the first acupuncture detoxification program in the U.S.A. While the legacy of the program has long been maintained by residents of the Bronx and Upper Manhattan, the pioneers for its creation have suffered from decades of state-sanctioned persecution.
