Description

Join the Kelly's for a walk around the oldest city in the area. Old Colorado City has a wide history from how it started as a small town to how it quickly grew into a prospering city. We'll tell you the stories of the false ads that lured delegates and other pioneers to the place and how they made it a grand center of shops, family businesses, and an opera house, but also a wide variety of saloons, gambling halls, and bordellos. There are tales of tunnels under the city now filled in, history of "Indian Troubles" and Mill workers going on strike, "working" women in the red light being forced out by a suspicious fire, along with the Woman's Temperance Union fighting against the saloons to make the town "dry."
We'll be taking you up and down Colorado Ave while visiting some historical homes and stopping in front of famous buildings, discussing their history and what made them so special. The tour will roughly be about two and a half hours and we'll be walking for a mile. Depending on the weather, remember to dress accordingly.
Free Parking lot at 2512 West Pikes Peak Ave.
