400th near 253rd, Enumclaw WA
Description
A couple of weeks ago (early/mid July 2022) I was driving Westbound on 400th around 7:30AM (North of Enumclaw), but had not reached the flashing red lights at the intersection of 244th yet (I was still East of 244th) --Near the intersection of 253rd and 400th, I saw what looked like a tiny black kitten curled up on the ground in the Left lane (the Eastbound lane). I turned around and stopped to look (with my flashers on), and sure enough, it was a little black kitten, who appeared to be about 8 weeks old. He had scrape/ gouge wounds on his hind leg and lower back, and when I tried to pick him up, he limped over to the side of the road, and ended up down in the ditch. I went down into the ditch and retrieved him, put him in the back of my car, and took him home to my family in the New Horizons neighborhood near Krain corner, and headed off to work (late). My family took the little black kitten to an emergency Veterinary clinic in Renton that took him in as an injured stray. After a couple of days, they sent him over to the King County Animal Shelter in Kent, WA, where the shelter Veterinarian continued his kitten care, immunizations, neutering, and health screenings. After he was somewhat rehabilitated, he went up for adoption. As my two little boys, ages 8 and 10, had already fallen in love with him, we went up to the Kent Animal Shelter to see him and Adopted him. He is now our new kitten. We live at the top of the hill in New Horizons, overlooking the Veazie Valley, not far from the Mason Jar farm and the Rock Quarry, North of the Stop N Shop Gas Station, East of Krain corner. Though he is now legally our kitten and we intend to keep him, we do appreciate that he is litter-trained. Though we were very upset that he was out on 400th in the middle of the road and appeared to have been bumped and grazed by an oncoming vehicle, we do realize now that he is very energetic and may have escaped out the front door. He is our cat now as we have formally adopted him. His new name is 'Shadow', and his microchip is registered to us. If you lost this kitten back in early/mid-July and just wanted to check on him and get a status update, or share valuable information about him that may help us be better cat owners, you are welcome to call us at three six zero, eight two five, two one nine zero (The Hunt Residence.) Thank you
