Description
Michael Berlanga – CPA Jan 1979 - May 1980- 1 year 5 months, San Antonio, Texas Area, At the age of 19, I was recruited my junior year to work in the tax department of the international public accounting firm of Arthur Andersen. I learned at an early age the definition of quality control being "doing and reviewing" while researching the application of tax laws, regulations, and processes to a variety of issues. This prompted me to further my interest in being an advocate for clients in front of the government by pursuing a graduate degree in accounting with a concentration in tax while also obtaining my certificate in public accounting. January 1990 - Present, 7 months, For more than 30 years, I have specialized in federal tax matters and real estate opportunities. Both fields fulfill my need to serve others. Using my Master's in Taxation, I work with both clients and their CPAs to optimize their outcomes when confronting the IRS. I have helped hundreds of clients overcome their fears and ignorance of the government by fair and persistent negotiation. From a simple letter of request for additional information to petitioning the Tax Court at the highest level, my approach takes a dynamic and comprehensive communications process. As a college student, I bought my first home, selling it two years later at a profit and reinvesting in three additional properties at the age of 22. Today, I focus on helping medical, dental, and legal professionals maximize the use of their real estate needs. For owner managed businesses, I likewise expand on the opportunity to find ideal locations with strategic visions for growth and profit. I combine both areas of expertise to reduce the stress of creating wealth and keeping as much of it as possible. Completing a trilogy of experiences of real world tax advisory experiences, I worked in a supervisory position with a firm that was cutting edge in planning tax minimization rather than just accounting for tax consequences. I learned the difference between statutory, regulatory, and judicial authority when working with opportunities within the law to defer or exempt tax liabilities. These strategies incorporated affirmed and insipid clients to use multiple structures and processes including but not limited to family and related group concepts as well as simultaneous and deferred like kind exchanges. I also capitalized on asset allocations for valuations led to negotiations for acquisitions and mergers beyond simply the negotiated price to conclude transitions of emerging businesses. John “Danny” DiazSAN ANTONIO — Monday, February 1, 2021, marked the first official day of John ' Danny' Diaz's, December 17. An hour after his win, he called San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. "We can get a lot more things done together than we can as adversaries," Diaz said. The 53-year-old said he met with the chief and city manager Erik Walsh to make them aware of SAPOA's direction. Diaz said he and Walsh had a decent conversation about working together mutually. "Let's face it. That hasn't been done in a while," he said. Relationships with the city and the police chief became the new president's first move. In January, McManus and Diaz appeared together in a joint news conference outside of San Antonio Public Safety Headquarters to denounce out-state-operatives "...trying to divide to our city." The united front of SAPOA and McManus is rare. Both warned against activists seeking to reform SAPD dishonestly. The group in question denied the allegations and maintained San Antonio wanted change. "We understand reform," Diaz said. "We get that push. We understand it's coming." "The citizens have only heard one side of the argument," Diaz said. "My intent is to educate the community as much as possible." Collective bargaining is the union's most colossal issue. Nearly 2,500 officers hope to find a median in the atmosphere where change is under demand. Communication is going to be key, Diaz said. According to the 29-year-veteran of SAPD, police have tremendous support too. That's why Diaz wants his members to raise their community profile to allow citizens to see the good officers do. He has worked patrol out of SAPD's South Substation, the Street Crimes Unit, and SWAT. One of four officers executing a drug warrant on Veterans Day 2010, Diaz was shot three times."My mind was all over the place," he said. "The fear came in." As he thought about his children and fiancé, he said his body grew cold. "You know, you watch a movie they always said when you get cold, you ain't coming back," he said. The shooting left its scars. But it was a situation where Diaz learned from both sides of the gun. "I've had to use my weapon---you're talking three or four times," he said. "Been shot at like two or three dozen times. yeah, there's been some close calls." Diaz said he's willing to talk to anyone about making officers better and serving San Antonio greater. But he said people have to realize the standard
