ALAS is an organization that trains educators to remove barriers to educational access for immigrant and court-impacted youth. Our goal is to expand training to more schools to ensure that every student’s 6th amendment right is honored, specifically presumption of innocence and the right to counsel, regardless of race, finances or immigration status. A few of our accomplishments to date include: 7 full school staffs ALAS trained 382 teachers trained at those 7 schools 3477 students receiving supports at those 7 schools 435 immigrant students ALAS has paired with an attorney 54 schools and organizations represented at ALAS presentations 1256 educators & community members to whom ALAS has presented 100% students returned to school pre-trial after an ALAS educator wrote a letter We are so excited to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary of Secretary of State and federal 501c3 official designations. To commemorate this milestone and expand our services to more local educators and youth, we are hosting a birthday fiesta on Friday, August 5, 2022, including prizes, a live poet, a DJ , and Hip Hop Bingo!
