Description
The speakers will cover both a policy and practice perspective of the changes being enacted but the multiple provision in the federal No Surprise Act of 2020. As the Department of Health and Human Services continues to formulate and put into effect the structures to comply with these provisions, we have seen some level of confusion and unexpected items, leaving those in the roles to implement these new practices without a clear understanding of how to proceed. Speakers Gabriela Villanueva Gabriela is currently the Government and External Affairs Analyst at the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP). Prior to Joining CAP in 2014, she was in Sacramento at the State Capitol as a Senior Legislative Aide to a Southern California Assemblymember where she developed and shaped her knowledge and understanding of legislative matters. Gabriela provides analysis of state and federal legislation impacting CAP, its members, and the medical professional liability industry. Amongst her varied tasks, she writes a monthly policy column for the company’s monthly newsletter, provides original and curated content to CAP’s social media platforms, as well as organizing and moderating the company’s annual Public Affairs Symposium. Gabriela is a graduate of Occidental College with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative Literature Studies. Andréa (Andie) Tena Andie is CAP’s Director of Practice Management Services. She brings to CAP over 15 years of experience streamlining, optimizing, and transforming operations in large and small multi-specialty groups to elevate efficiency and productivity. Prior to joining CAP, she consulted for Innovative Health Management Partner, where she directed multiple cross functional projects for the largest orthopedic group in Orange County.
