Ground Team Member Paul’s Tree Service LLC is looking for a ground team member, please send applications/resumes to CL email relay or leave a message with office at the phone number provided. A ground team member’s main responsibilities are hauling brush and wood, assisting tree climbers, using various hand and power tools, and cleaning job sites. You will be working with the PTS team to support arborist-climbers, and to address client needs and ensure that our customers are safe and satisfied. Responsibilities: • Communicate effectively with a climber above you in order to safely move tree matter from the canopy to the ground. • Haul, cut and chip tree and brush materials • Safe and swift use of chainsaws, winch lines, pulleys, shovels rakes and buckets. • Operate truck and trailer systems in residential areas. (if you are not a licensed driver we may still consider your application, please do reach out and we can discuss options) • Act as a team member to set a safe example, and be prepared to call a stop to work if you encounter unsafe work behavior. • Ensure equipment (saws, ropes, rakes, etc) is in good working order and quickly double check a climbers gear before the work day begins. • Assist the climber and/or crane operators with various tasks as needed. Skills Required • Experience with knots used in the arboriculture industry, or a keen willingness to learn. • Experience in how to run a chainsaw safely and effectively • Knowledge of tree types here in Alaska, or willingness to learn quickly • Ability to safely run different types of machinery including chippers, log and branch transport devices, large trucks and potentially stump grinders. • Basic people skills are a must. Extensive experience not required, but an ability to converse, explain concepts, and reassure clients is needed. • Basic reading and writing skills are essential, but no formal education (HS diploma) is required. • You must be physically fit enough to walk all day, carry over 50 lbs., and navigate uneven terrain. You also must have keen enough eyesight and / or hearing to communicate with tree climbers and other team members on noisy, busy job sites. Hearing screenings are not required, but if you are hard of hearing, you must be willing to use clear hand gestures and other accommodations for the safety of the team. Other requirements: • 18 years of age or older • Able to provide proof of ability to work in the United States. • Ability to conform to established procedures and to help identify and solve problems • Ability to get along with other employees, follow directions, work under stressful conditions. (noise, weather, etc) • Ability to complete on the job training in the first few days of work. Salary and benefits: Salary is DOE - Typically $17-27/Hour No position at PTS includes health insurance, but we are exploring options around a company sponsored membership with a local primary care provider. Hours are somewhat flexible, but please know that the Summer and Fall season is our busiest time of year.
