A Medical Fundraiser for One of Our Own Neighborhood ResidentsOverwhelmed by medical debt, incapacitated by illnesses compounded by Covid, he is the head of his household.Chuck Jackson, father, grandfather, husband, career civil servant, Veteran, and our NEIGHBOR fights for survival. Celebrate your ability to make a difference for Chuck and his family. Let them see hope for better days ahead. Hello, I am Charles Jackson. I live here in Henderson and have been having some health problems. First, I went from work to the hospital for a heart problem. Then after about ten days back home, I returned with the same problem, plus pneumonia and COVID-19. My case worker informs me that I am responsible for 20% of the costs of my hospital stay starting 6/25/2022. To make matters worse, because of my positive COVID-19 test, my wife Shawna is off work without pay. So our bills are piling up, and we are not earning anything to pay them. I wanted everyone to know the love and support have really made a big difference. Thank you to all of you for your help. It gives me hope for our species that people will jump in when they see someone in need. My recent experience has shown me how much love there is around me. Sadly I never really noticed it until this happened. If I can get through this, it will be with a different view of what matters and how much I am loved. Again, thank you all. Who is Chuck Jackson?I am also a veteran, spent seven years in the Middle East supporting US forces, and have been a compliance investigator for the state of Nevada housing for the last five years. This job charged me with the duty of making sure Nevada residents are being treated fairly by their landlords, dealers, and licensed contractors regulated by NRS and NAC throughout our state. I mainly served the vulnerable populations of Nevada, including low-income households, seniors, the disabled, and those who cannot defend themselves against predatory organizations and landlords. The state and community have well recognized my work. I am considered an expert on landlord-tenant rights and housing compliance. I am often called to testify in court regarding such matters. I hold a bachelor's degree in homeland security and disaster management. And am one class away from a master's in organizational psychology. (I had to drop out when I became ill). I am on my final capstone, and my school is holding my grade due to my situation.
