Happy Steps Preschool has rare openings! One open now, and the other opens Sept. 8th. (Or both can be held for Sept. 8th for a family with two children.) Our home-based preschool program is for potty-trained children ages 2 through 5 (when they leave for kindergarten). Happy Steps is at the highest level of licensing for in-home child care: Certified Family (because of this, DHS covers all of the tuition for full-time families, if you're on the ERDC program). This means we meet far higher standards for safety, cleanliness, daily curriculum, and annual ECE classes/trainings for our teachers and assistants. Our lovingly structured program supports children in their socio-emotional development -cultivating strong self-esteem and positive relationships with others, facilitates exploring the child's natural interests and talents, and helps build the necessary skills to do well in kindergarten! We provide a nurturing and stable environment for children to do their best learning and growing! Our group size is smaller than a center or large school, as well. Our class size is usually only 8 children (occasionally up to 10). With two teachers, we often split up into groups of 4 or 5 for small group play at our many play centers (blocks, legos, train table, dramatic play, light table, music, science, etc.). We provide wholesome, mostly organic meals and snacks. Our menu and facility are now gluten-free to be Celiac-safe. (Whole grains are served every day: corn tortillas, cereal, quinoa, oatmeal, etc.) Our curriculum fosters a love of learning and supports the children in learning basic math concepts, beginning reading and writing, basic Spanish, gardening, science and eco-friendly concepts, music, art, sensory play, and so much more. All staff members are fully vaccinated. We are still masking indoors, parents are dropping off and picking up outside, and we are following pandemic protocols.
