Activity Assistant works closely with the activities leader or activities director, helping clients live, learn and laugh in and outside of the enrichment center. Activity Assistant will assist to promote individual growth and peer interaction. Activities may include learning fundamentals, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports, music or drama. The assistant may prepare equipment and ensure the safety of patients or participants in the activity. The activity assistant may assist in planning programs for clients, which can help to provide education, socialization, relaxation and exercise. Activity assistant may also assist in leading the participants in group activities. Assistants also help keep records of client achievement and maintaining client participant ratios. The activity assistant will also help ensure dietary compliance. Lastly, the assistant must be comfortable helping both men and women with toileting when needed. Education Applicants for an activity aide position should have an eagerness to learn. A high school diploma is preferred, but not initially required for employment. Skills Activity assistants should be energetic and personable to work with clients. The aide should have the ability to motivate others to participate in activities. The worker should also be sensitive to the needs of each individual client. Transportation Activity Assistant should have a driver's license or ability to obtain within 6months of employment. Assistants will have access and may utilize company vehicle for client transportation to activities and route pick-up and drop-off.
