Metairie LA

Description

K9 Second Line, a New Orleans dog walking and pet sitting service with over a decade of experience, is looking for a full-time dog walker and pet sitter for weekday daytime dog walking and pet sitting appointment requests. We are hiring for immediate consideration. This position is for more than just a pet-lover; we are looking for a true pet professional adept at providing specialized care for and building relationships with pets of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. We have a quick onboarding process which includes an interview via Zoom, in-person shadow training with our team members and some of our clients' pets, and direct training working within our app and our company best practices. Responsibilities: - Review assigned appointments and create a personal plan to complete appointments efficiently and on-time. - Independently complete appointment requirements during the appointment window and in the time allotted (usually 30 minutes in length). Responsibilities could include any of the following tasks: a dog walk, pet feeding, refreshing water, watering plants, bringing in and sorting mail and packages, cleaning litter boxes, administering medication, securing the home, properly documenting the visit, and any other requirements of the visit. - Communicate with team members and team leaders where necessary. Compensation: - 28 hours guaranteed weekly. Usually 35 hours weekly. Up to 80 hours maximum over a two-week period. - $14.50 per hour base, increased to $15.00 per hour after the first month training period. Minimum $21,840. Expected $27,090 per year. - $75.00 weekly bonus for benefits (when working at least 28 hours weekly). Expected $3,900 per year. - 28 paid vacation hours (5 days) for every 6-month period (accumulates). - Tips, paid either in cash at the appointment or monthly. Expected $1,800 per year. - Per-appointment commissions for personal clients brought to the company. Benefits: - Ability to grow within the company to an expanded role. - Ability to grow a personal dog walking and pet sitting business within our established and trusted brand. - Working with and exercising with animals usually relieves stress rather than piling it on. - Receive company training in pet exceptionalities and best practices that have led to us being a trusted name in New Orleans for over a decade. - Ability to retain ambassador status with the company to earn lifetime ongoing commissions and discounts on services. - You will almost exclusively work alone and independently. Challenges: - You must be able to work with various pet exceptionalities, including pets requiring medication, extreme patience, or firm handling. - You must provide your own vehicle, maintenance, and gas to get to appointments. - Appointment tasks can be quite physical, requiring a bit of walking, lifting, handling multiple heavy dogs, cleaning pet waste, and spending long days working outdoors. Non-negotiables: - You must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license. - You must have personal, reliable, and motorized transportation. In rare instances, it may be necessary to transport a pet, so your vehicle should be prepared to do that (no motorized scooter). - You must submit to and pass a federal criminal background check. - You must be physically capable of completing all tasks required at an appointment.
