Description
Snow Pea is a 2-3 year old Chinese Crested who weighs 8 lbs. She was a rescue from the shelter along with her buddies, Stringbean and Sugar Snap. Snow Pea is the most timid one of the pod. She gets her confidence from being around other dogs- good thing her foster home has 3! Her foster home says: When Snow Pea arrived she was pretty scared and very skittish. The first couple of days she chose to hide in her crate with the door open. After about four days, she perked up a bit and started following me around. She is much more relaxed now and snuggles next to me as much as possible. Snow Pea gets along great with our dogs. She was confused by the leash- it was clear she had never been on one before- but when we put a harness on her and took her out with our dogs she did great and now enjoys the walks. She definitely gets confidence from being around other dogs. We are working on house training. She has access to the yard all day and only has accidents if we don’t crate her when we leave. She has no issues being crated but of course loves to sleep in the bed - she burrows under the covers. Snow Pea is a happy girl and very loving. Even though she’s waaay more relaxed, we still have to approach her slowly. She will be in play mode and if we move too fast she runs and hides. She’s super cute even when she’s being timid, I’m starting to wonder if it’s a ploy. She loves being told that she’s a good girl - very responsive. She doesn’t bark very often. She wants to play but doesn’t really know how to yet. She was a bit suspicious of our noisy teenager at first, but now she adores him. This is our first experience with a Chinese Crested and we are sold. It’s a little weird petting a hairless dog but you get used to it quickly. It’s been a total joy to foster Snow Pea. I would hope her forever home has another dog to help her be confident. She needs a little patience while she gets used to her new surroundings. Once she opens up, she’s a goofy sweet girl! Snow Pea is only an option for a home that has owned a dog in the last 5 years. We would ideally like to find her a home with another, confident dog to be her buddy and show her the ropes. She's only an option for children over the age of 8 who are gentle and will allow her to come to them over time.
