Description

Last year the Columbia Parks & Recreation Foundation opened the Saluda Riverwalk, a 7.3 mile paved public trail following the winding banks of the scenic Saluda River. The trail’s eastern end is connected by bridge to the Sanctuary at Boyd Island, the jewel of the Saluda. The trails offer stunning views of the confluence at the Saluda and Broad Rivers, the very beginning of the Congaree. The Saluda Riverwalk and the Boyd Island Sanctuary embodies the transformative partnership of the Columbia Parks & Recreation Foundation and the Boyd Foundation, a partnership that continues to transform access to Columbia’s most enriching public spaces. We are honored to recognize the enormous scope of work and enduring legacy of Darnall W. and Susan F. Boyd. Darnall W. and Susan F. Boyd and the Boyd Foundation are deserving of such recognition. Their vision, leadership, and dedication to outdoor spaces and philanthropy invigorates the development and usage of the city's outdoor, historic and public spaces. They will be honored by the Columbia Parks & Recreation Foundation at its 2022 Legacy Awards ceremony on Thursday, September 8th. We hope you will join us in honoring the Darnall W. and Susan F. Boyd Foundation Net proceeds will go to scholarships and other activities that support Columbia Parks & Recreation’s facilities and programs, and public treasures.
