Description

Duffy is a little bit of a worrier but is growing into himself and gaining confidence daily. He will be 3 years old this January. He is a little sweetie and would benefit from a home environment (not a classroom) where he is held by only a few people (not a whole classroom). He is used to being with children, and living with 2 small, barky dogs. He comes with his cage and all his accessories. There is no fee, but I will be very selective of where he goes. This is his story: I had two female guinea pigs I had gotten off Craigslist -- I brought them back and forth every night from my home to my preschool classroom (this was in pre-covid times). All was well. Then, one January morning (still pre-covid), my next door neighbor called me and with great urgency in her voice, said, "Do you know where your guinea pigs are???" I was still in bed. I ran downstairs, thinking why wouldn't my guinea pigs be in their cage??? -- and of course, they were in their cage, and started whistling when they saw me. My neighbor then told me that there were two guinea pigs in her front yard. This is close-in SE Portland, and there was no fence. Someone had dumped them in the night. We went out and caught those guinea pigs, and I kept them, and that was Papa Calico and Duffy. Long story short, I am changing schools and have found wonderful homes for 3 of my 4 guinea pigs (with families I trust) but have not yet found a home for Duffy. The two that were dumped were a father and son who were fine together at first, but then started fighting and I had to separate them. Papa Calico was the aggressive, confident one. He was a great classroom animal. Duffy, not so much. He needs TLC. He is super healthy and loves his dandelion greens, cantaloupe rinds, alfalfa hay, and pellets. Thank you for reading!
