When we criticize ourselves, we are tapping into the body’s threat-response-system (fight or flight). Feeling threatened puts stress on the mind and body and chronic stress can cause anxiety and depression. At this retreat, you will explore the practice of self-compassion including self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness. You will learn to utilize practices such as meditation, gratitude, and balanced awareness to cultivate compassion and fully embrace the unique person you are.
