Guitarist sought for indie/country/r&b project
Meets
Austin TX
Description
Just getting underway with a brand new project and our lead guitarist is moving to California (isn't that backwards, I thought everyone was coming to Texas?). These things happen... So now we're looking for someone new. This is a paid gig with weekly paid rehearsal. You're not going to get rich but we're not going to screw you over either. So here we go, read on. _______ We're all new to this band but not new to the Austin music scene. Members have played with Polyphonic Spree, Okkervil River, Black Joe Lewis, White Denim, Mike And The Moonpies, What Made Milwaukee Famous, and Shooter Jennings. We've got bass and drums locked down and our lead singer moves between guitar and organ/piano. We've played three or four shows at this point with another 12 or so booked in the next two months and more to come. We have about a dozen or so original tunes that we know well with another dozen or so that we're learning. Our rehearsal space is centrally located and very nicely appointed with a 24 channel recording console, amps, piano, drums and the rest. Ok, so those are the basics facts. And I know what you're thinking... why this post? "A bunch of fellas as supposedly amazing as you claim to be should surely know someone who an play guitar in your band." If you're thinking that, you'd be right. But. We really want to be open to the possibility of finding someone new to our circle, or maybe even new in town. We're actively talking to players we know to find a good fit, but if YOU are a better fit... we're all ears! Here's what we're looking for... We're fans of players like Mike Campbell, Ronnie Wood, Robbie Robertson and the like. If you like playing Steve Cropper licks and think Keith Richards has it just about nailed, you'll fit in. If you wish you had a gig as the house guitarist at The Hit Factory (along with a time machine to go back to the 60's to do it) you'll do great. But this isn't classic rock. You should dig Wilco, Blake Mills, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ryan Adams, Jack White, The Strokes, whatever... you get it. Bonus points if you play other instruments well. Huge bonus points if you play pedal steel though not needed. Ability to sing harmonies is welcomed. You should be able to play melodic parts and unafraid to play ugly parts. And, of course, you should understand that sometimes the most important note is the one not played. Also, you should appreciate an absurdist sense of humor. Seriously, that's important. We're not looking to be road warriors, but you should assume 8-10 gigs per month with a handful of those being a couple of hours away. But we're not getting in the van and burning up the interstates anytime soon, plenty to be done right here. _____ Does this sound interesting? Great. Hit us up with links to your playing and we'll reply with links to our songs. Thanks!
