LEMONT, IL — On New Year's Day, residents in Lemont will leave behind a year marked by unprecedented hardship and challenges. After spending much of the year navigating the once-in-a-lifetime coronavirus pandemic, many will no doubt welcome 2021 with open arms. As we ring in the new year in our town, many local facilities and government offices will take the day off to recognize the start of the new year. Here's a look at what's open and closed in Lemont on New Year's: Village of Lemont: Offices will be closed on Friday, Jan. 1 (New Year's Day).Lemont High School is off from Dec. 22-Jan. 10. Classes resume Jan. 11 following winter break.Lemont-Bromberek School District 113A are off from Dec. 24-Jan. 8.Lemont Public Library will be closed on New Year's Day.This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 1. No mail will be delivered or sent.
