The Tree Fredericksburg Tree Steward Program is a 10 -week class based on the Trees Virginia tree steward manual https://treesvirginia.org/images/pdfs/2020TreeStewardManualver03.pdf
The class will be held every Tuesday from 1/10/23 to 3/14/23 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at the Dorothy Hart Center, 408 Canal Street, 22401. (Allowances for covid restrictions will be made closer to the date of the first class.) Attendance at every class is mandatory for Tree Steward certification. If you cannot attend every class, please do not sign up for the course. The class is limited to 20 individuals, and we must have a minimum of 10 registered in order to hold the class. Priority will be given to residents of 22401. A short interview with each applicant is required to gauge their commitment to the program.
In addition to the 10 classes of the course work, you will be required to complete 2 pruning sessions (tentative dates are Saturdays -3/18 & 3/25) for 3 hours each and a tree ID class for two hours to be scheduled in early May
The fee for the classes is $100 and will be collected at the first class. Registration fees for students under 18 years of age may be waived on a case-by-case basis.
Tree Fredericksburg Tree Stewards are required to donate 20 hours volunteer hours every year in order to continue qualifying for Tree Steward designation. These hours include classwork, meetings, volunteer activities, education, and outreach activities. The goal is to have graduating tree stewards commit to being part of the Tree Fredericksburg Tree Steward group and continue to help serve our community with their volunteer efforts. This is a class for those who want to serve our community for years to come. Registration for the course will begin on 8-1-22 and registration closes on 12/20/22.
