Story Starters at the Somerville Community Growing Center

The Somerville Community Growing Center, led by the nonprofit Friends of the Community Growing Center and Newton-based Story Starters are pleased to collaborate on an author read aloud! This event is directed at children aged 3-10 and their families. We are pleased to welcome Amitha Knight, author of Usha and the Big Digger, a title which is also available in Spanish. The goal of this event is to introduce families with young children to a variety of diverse stories and storytellers. Families will have the opportunity to learn about upcoming Story Starters programs, in addition to the Children in Nature Initiative, which is designed to increase opportunities for children of all backgrounds to have direct learning experiences in nature. Families will be able to take home a signed copy of the book. Following the reading, everyone is invited to stay for open garden hours (12-2 pm) to enjoy the late-summer blooms of The Growing Center! This event is sponsored by Tufts University and the Children in Nature Committee of the Somerville Community Growing Center.
