I have a variety of gerbils available from 10 weeks to 6 months old. They are all well socialized, not nippy and generally quite interested in what you are doing. All of them are capable of being handled without issue. Gerbils are fantastic pets. In addition to being very clean, they are low maintenance in terms of husbandry and require only daily feeding, daily watering and weekly bedding changes. You can use all kinds of bedding for them but I prefer to use carefresh or kiln dried pine (must be kiln dried or the oils left in the wood will cause respiratory issues). These guys bond and they bond hard to their owners and to each other to form a clan. Gerbils will only be offered in pairs, trios or quads because they are highly social and very much enjoy the company of another gerbil or two. You will see them play together, groom one another, eat together, etc. Etc. One of the best things about these fascinating little creatures is they are active during the day (diurnal)! Which means you can observe or interact with them during hours you would be active. They need deep enough bedding to burrow in, things to chew on (safe wood is best) a glass water bottle (they are prone to chewing through plastic ones) and a minimum space of 10 gallons per gerbil.
