The Kansas City Urban Farm Co-Op presents... A Night at The Orchard Benefit Soiree When: Saturday, September 10th Time: 7:30pm - 10:30pm Location: 5051 E Gregory Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64132 Catered by: Concierge Living Live Music by: Tyler Bullock II About The Artist: Tyler Bullock II is a New York-based jazz pianist, arranger, and composer making his way into the city's musical landscape while studying at the Juilliard School. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Tyler began playing piano at age five and the cello at ten, winning awards in both instruments. He studied classically as he also absorbed the language of Black American roots and soul music. He was introduced to jazz music in middle school and found that improvisation came naturally to him. When he heard John Coltrane's Love Supreme, he was enraptured and spiritually engaged. The swing, solace, and lyrical flow of that recording challenged and confirmed his direction; he would step outside the musical bounds of his generation to pursue the distinct yet limitless tradition of improvisation. Through its unamplified 88 keys, Tyler sees endless possibilities for freedom and musical dedication to form a connection with his audiences. In his music, listeners will hear his deep roots in jazz history that are uniquely his own and a bridge to the future. Tyler has performed at Dizzy's Club NYC, Joe's Pub with Sunny Jain, Keystone Korner in Baltimore, The Newport Jazz Festival, The Jamaica Queens Jazz Festival with The Roy Hargrove Big Band, and was a headline artist for the Nashville Jazz Workshop's Jazzmania in 2021. Tyler received national recognition as the jazz piano finalist for the 2022 YoungArts Competition along with a 2021 selection for Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra for Jazz – directed by Sean Jones – and performed on the big band album now streaming on all major platforms – and a 2020 selection for the Vail Jazz Workshop – under the guidance of legendary jazz bassist and composer John Clayton. Tyler Bullock's blend of sensitivity and assertiveness has well positioned him to draw the attention of jazz fans, new and old.
