Ana Berry and Bossa!
Bossa “ Music for your soul, rhythm for your hips”
Bossa was formed by performer, Ana Berry, because of her love of world music specifically the songs of Brazil in the form of Bossa Nova, a type of music invented by young, middle-class inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro at the end of the 1950s. It has an obvious jazz influence, an unusual, rhythmic beat, and lyrics praising the beauty of nature and the power of love. Bossa nova became known around the world through the work of the conductor and composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, whose compositions, working with the poet Vinícius de Morais, include the famous song “The Girl from Ipanema.” With its hushed intimacy, poetic lyrics, alluring melodies, and mesmerizing rhythms, Ana and the talented musicians of Bossa strive to present this genre of music in the most authentic and sensual way, along with educating the audience about the origins and stories behind this beloved music.
