Volunteers needed to coordinate outreach to Elementary Schools

Looking for 3-4 volunteers for Virginia. Could be retirees, or Scouts, or students looking for community service, or just about anyone! Could be done from the comfort of your home! I am a volunteer for a charity called Food & Friends. My project is to encourage elementary schools to have their children create beautiful Valentine’s Day Cards. We supply the envelopes, the students create their cards and insert them into the envelopes, we arrange for pick up of the cards and we distribute them to local hospitals and hospices as well as to clients of Food & Friends. Last year, over 3000 students drew cards that were treasured by the recipients! We have a great list of elementary schools in Virginia, and we send out emails, but the task of the volunteers would be simply to follow up with the schools to get them to sign up. The person at the school who gets the email from us is often too busy to read it and doesn’t realize what a great project this is for the kids. It needs a resourceful volunteer to figure out exactly who at the school is the best prospect and a telephone call or contact. You just have to be organized, persuasive (and sometimes a little persistent). If you have any experience with elementary schools and their structure, it would certainly come in handy. Won’t you join us in bringing joy to the recipients of the cards and to the children and schools for having done a good service to the community?
