Project Superintendent
Reports to: Construction Project Manager
The project superintendent or supervisor is the on-site representative for the company. The superintendent is chiefly responsible for on-site production, and managing the site conditions in general.
Superintendents will coordinate and manage all on-site activities, as well as work with
project teams including the Project Managers, Construction Manager, Project Coordinators, to
deliver successful projects to owners, on time and on budget with the desired level of
quality.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of field experience in the construction industry. (typically a carpenter prior to becoming a superintendent).
- Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening.
- Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices.
- Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and
contingencies.
- Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and
signs of maintenance issues
- In-depth understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations
- Great problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal setting and conflict management
- Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization and
multitasking.
