Shared Housing For Intellectually Limited Woman

Description

Hello. I'm a dad with a daughter who is now 19 and is ready to be more independent. Yet I'm struggling to connect with folks in the area that are of similar need which is housing at a price that my daughter can afford. She has enough income for a roommate situation or renting a room, but finding a match for roommates is difficult. A group home would be too limiting for her, ad she is not in need of such significant care. She has qualified through DDS and has some services each week available. Another option that would work very well, and I think could work great for both parties, is a retired lady who maybe needs, or expects to need someday, a little bit of help around their home so they can stay in it. While my daughter is not able to solve complex problems, she can solve simpler problems and is able to help out a lot and does not require supervision. She can help run errands and those kinds of things. She is very capable of calling 911, or working down a calling list for help. She's proficient with a smart phone. A bit about my daughter as a roommate. She is VERY quiet. Her favorite things are school, watching YouTube videos and listening to music. The later she does with headphones so you don't hear anything. She does not like drama so that needs not be in the picture. She doesn't have boyfriends, and in fact those relationships are too much for her. So we don't want parties and boyfriends over. She is simply a very nice girl who needs a bit more independence. It's that time in life. So I'm reaching out to folks who might have experience in this or have a similar situation where their daughter would possibly fit with mine. Or where a retired lady might want to rent a room for income and have someone around the house. My be daughter goes to Ferris High School in the extended program, so the location needs to be on the South Hill or an easy bus trip up to the school each day. I do have an ad posted on the South Hill under shared housing if you might be interested in looking at that. But also I'm looking for ideas people might have and or possibly matching up something for my daughter. Really appreciate your help. And I hate to even have to mention this, but I am a large part of my daughter's life and If you are somebody who has selfish interests or other inappropriate perspectives here, please move on. I'm not interested in having my daughter share housing unless it is of somebody with similar limitations or retired who is also female. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
