WANTED: Older, calm dog

I'm looking for a diamond in the rough type of dog. I've gone through a couple applications from rescues and have fostered with the intent to adopt for one dog to no avail (I was lied to about how active/anxious he truly is). I also don't have the ability to pay $500+ and am wanting to stay under that. I am still searching through rescues, but thought I'd reach out through here as well. My 5 year old daughter and I are searching for a low-mid energy level dog (leaning more toward low energy) that does well with cats. Must be able to RELAX and be a calm energy (we live in a 2 bedroom duplex and evenings are spent in our rooms, reading, or watching TV - a couch buddy is exactly what we'd like to find). I'd prefer a dog 4+ years old and 20+ lbs. We do have a fully fenced backyard and we do rent, but we have permission to have a dog and I've already paid the deposit. All I need is to find the perfect pup. My daughter is very aware of how to be safe around dogs and even though our current foster LOVES children/people of all sizes, I still supervise. Behavioral issues I cannot take on: resource guarding, separation anxiety, aggression towards kids/strangers/other dogs, etc. I can handle prey drive, but not towards cats. We take daily walks after I get home from work (30-40 mins) and go to the dog park 2 or 3 days/week. I can not have a dog that is younger than 2 years, nor a breed that is commonly banned by rental properties (bullies, mastiffs, GSD, huskies, etc.). Willing to pay a rehoming fee and keep in contact, if preferred. For the record, I don't rehome animals unless it's clear that the living environment is not suited for their needs (such as our current foster who is a very high strung, energetic dog that does not relax outside his kennel and no amount of exercise has helped).
