Imagine strolling through the gorgeous fields of Swan Island Dahlias, then learning how to paint the colorful scene. Local artist, Angela Hawes will walk you through the acrylic painting step by step, so no previous experience is required. Supplies will be provided, including an 11”x14” canvas for you to take home at the end of the class. Aprons are provided, but acrylic stains, so be sure to dress for the mess!" Class is appropriate for ages 13 & up and all skill levels. Please dress appropriately as the paint can stain clothing. About the Artist: Angela Marie Sapienza Hawes was born and raised in the scenic foothills of Oregon in the small town of Colton. Her parents supported her childhood interest in art by supplying her with paints and encouraging her to take lessons from local community artists. In college she explored various drawing and painting classes while obtaining her Associate of Arts degree. Her desire to continue studying art was put on hold when she got a fun job for an interior design firm. From there, Angela’s path changed as she started a family and focused her energies on motherhood. The most notable shift in her art journey was in 2018, while going through a divorce. In striving to find a balance between self-care, raising her 3 children, and entering a new career path, she was inspired by her children to draw one day… A quick pencil sketch turned into chalk pastel drawing, turned into watercolors, and finally evolved into acrylic and oil paintings on canvas. Painting quickly became her ultimate therapy and re-ignited passion. When you look at Angela’s artwork, you are looking at the result of a cathartic process. Her artwork emotes the essence of the pacific northwest, which has always been Angela’s place of comfort and peace. All supplies are included in the class fee.
