I am experienced working with and training large breed dogs, shepherds, labs, boxers, and pits, and spent some time with the current owner myself to consider adopting this beautiful boy. This dog was a little bit too big for my home and yard but I offer the following for those who may consider him. He is very alert, carries himself beautifully, not scary but appropriately cautious when hears big noises (truck/cycle very close by), took a step back but then looked to see what was going on. After he was outside in the yard for about 5-7 minutes he began to look at me in the correct curious way a mentally healthy dog would do, without fear and exhibiting just enough curiousity to become familiar with a stranger nearby, but not afraid. He is obviously very intelligent, and is a strange color of brown/grey which the owner said is combination of silver lab and blue nose pit. The dog is solid and square, no obvious faults of mind or body. Due to its level of intelligence and physical ability this should not be a first time dog for a new handler, but someone with experience with a highly intelligent working breed dog like a shepherd, boxer, or pit would be great. your calm and steady personality would ease the pups intensity especially in the first days and weeks of being in a new environment, and he has recently been in a situation that is a little confusing having left his normal home a few weeks ago. If you are an experienced handler/owner of a working breed dog this would be a great dog to look at, and he would be a tireless and alert defender of your domain and stick to you like velcro. the owners had to transition from the living situation they had and now very concerned that he goes to the right place. I support them completely with this information I can now offer in hope that this special and beautiful boy finds the right home with his new forever family. Cynthia C of 58th Pl.
