This August, in celebration of Allyson Felix’s record-breaking, 20-year career and legacy as a changemaker for female athletes, Athleta is bringing the Los Angeles community together with a street race in her hometown. Athleta Presents The Allyson Felix Race for Change also aims to raise awareness and funds for a more equitable and accessible child care ecosystem. The women-focused event will feature a custom five-lane, 100-meter track and various heats for participation, ranging from professional athletes, all age groups and levels, mother/daughter races, celebrity races and more. In addition to the races, the event will feature a variety of activities and education sessions supporting moms, caretakers, female athletes and women’s overall wellbeing, including: · Free, onsite child care for race participants provided by &Mother and Vivvi, a national provider of child care and school programming. Participants who are interested in learning more can fill out this survey. · An immersive onsite experience from Athleta’s digital community AthletaWell, for women to tap into their own wellbeing · Shoe try-ons with Saysh, the lifestyle brand cofounded by Allyson Felix · Special athlete meet and greets hosted by the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), opportunities to decorate race bibs, and an educational booth celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX · Dedicated lactation space from Mamava for parents who are breastfeeding and prefer privacy · Networking sessions for working moms hosted by HeyMama with refreshing mocktails Prizes from Athleta, Mejuri and Saysh will be available for race winners and event participants. The event is free and open to anyone to participate, but in lieu of registration fees, participants are encouraged to donate to one of Athleta’s Power of She Fund nonprofit partners, &Mother and WSF, using the links provided to help create meaningful change in child care.
