Description

The Mama Talk support group is going outside this summer!! Come join us and bring the family to our Mama Movement series and engage in some much needed movement therapy. We will dance, stretch and exercise using birth balls, hula hoops, hips and hands, all while absorbing some essential sun-filled vitamin D 🌞 Our July 23rd Mama Movement session will be instructed by the talented Vanya Francis, a yoga mama and founder of Cherished Life Wellness. She will lead us through yoga exercises fit for pregnancy and postpartum. We will also be collaborating with Sistersong, our long time partner and provider of this Mama Talk's venue. Yoga is extremely beneficial during pregnancy for both physical wellness and restoring a connection between the mind and body. Our instructor, Vanya, is a certified yoga instructor and specializes in prenatal and postpartum movement. She will guide the class through movements and poses that help increase circulation, improve breathing, ease physical discomfort, and provide a better sense of self-awareness. Yoga is a peaceful and gentle approach to preparing the body for labor, or aiding with recovery in postpartum. Mama Talk™ is a monthly informational support group for pregnant and postpartum Black families, hosted, either virtually or in-person, by the Atlanta Doula Collective, Inc. Each Mama Talk™ features a relative topic of discussion, led by a community expert. This community forum has been cultivated to be a safe space for Black families to share their birth stories, birthing fears and fertility concerns. The Mama Talk™ program also grants opportunities for participants to share common experiences, support one another and empower themselves with new information.
