Description
The Hampton Roads Workforce Council(HRWC) welcomes you to apply for Marine Trades Training. The HR Strong initiative is a partnership of the HRWC, the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA) and the Community College Workforce Cooperative which includes education partners Camp Community College, VA Peninsula Community College (formerly Thomas Nelson) and Tidewater Community College.
The 11Week program (valued at $9000) provides:
Level 1, 2 and 3 of Marine Welding (now also offering Structural Fitting)
Blueprint Reading
OSHA 10 certification,
Emergency First Responder
Access to hiring events and interviews
The HR Strong initiative is open to individuals 18 and older, authorized to work in the United States, and where applicable, registered for Selective Service. A prescreening will include a free background check, drug screening, and physical, at no cost to the participant. Employers with job openings in the maritime industry should also connect with the HRWC for assistance with training possible new hires.
