Description

Join a local herbalist to learn how to make herbal medicines from a variety of plants common to our area. This workshop will be a hands-on way to learn about a variety of different herbal preparations and how to incorporate them into your life. Kyra owns and operates Balsamroot Botanicals, a small herbal medicine business focused on making high quality medicines and body care products using locally wildcrafted herbs. She grew up exploring the wildlands of the Pacific Northwest and has always had a special love for plants. Following this passion for plants and the outdoors, she received a BA in Environmental Education from Western Washington University in 2016 and completed a clinical herbalism program with Wildroot Botanicals in 2020. She started Balsamroot Botanicals in 2022 because she is passionate about using plant medicine to help others take ownership of their health and deepen their connection to the world around them. This event is part of the Sustainable Living and Farming tour, organized by Waste Loop, and is an opportunity for people to learn more about living a simpler and more sustainable life by visiting examples and partaking in hands-on applications in the greater Leavenworth area. Over the course of one weekend, participants will choose between various workshop offerings and site visits that educate, inspire and motivate a path towards sustainable living. Participants will form connections to local food, the surrounding environment and the people that are 'walking the talk' of sustainability & stewardship.
