For Community Kitchens, food justice includes food security, equal dignity and access.   With our encampments pushed to the outskirts of our community, getting access to food and water can be a significant burden that further increases marginalization of our most vulnerable community members.  The CK Mobile Oasis is an important extension of our mission and it's done with the CK spirit of bringing our community together.  We are working with local brewery Line 51 to purchase and refurbish the bus, a local artist Pancho Pescador is painting the bus and we will announce at the event the musicians we are working with to have "ice cream truck" style music.  When we roll through Oakland and you hear our music, our community will know a warm meal is available.   Our event is a community celebration bringing together local organizations and the Eastmont neighborhood to support food justice in Oakland.
