TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama fans will be without a familiar voice on the radio Friday as ESPN college football commentator and former Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy announced he has tested positive for the coronavirus and will miss a pair of postseason calls. McElroy was set to be in the booth for the Cotton Bowl Game against Florida and Oklahoma on Wednesday night, before being on the radio call for Alabama's College Football Playoffs Semifinal matchup against Notre Dame on Friday. This is my favorite week of the year. I was so excited to head home, to DFW, to call the @CottonBowlGame and then to be on the radio call for @rosebowlgame. Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID. I'm disappointed, but I feel good and hope to be back soon. Appreciate y'all!— Greg McElroy (@GregMcElroy) December 30, 2020 In making the announcement on Twitter Tuesday night, McElroy expressed his disappointment in missing the game, but also showed gratitude to those who have shown support. "As much as the world might want to tell you otherwise, people are good," he said. "The outpouring of support and well-wishes makes me so happy and borderline emotional. I love y'all. Family is healthy and I'm bouncing back. Look forward to making a full recovery and seeing everyone ASAP." Follow Patch here for updates or on Facebook and Twitter.
