Description

Hello June burst on the national scene with their first full-length, self-titled record in 2018. NPR Music quickly took note, letting the band take over their Instagram for the day. NPR also put Hello June on their Slingshot list of artists to watch, next to now-famous names like Phoebe Bridgers, Cautious Clay and Baltimore’s own Snail Mail. The band is currently working on a new record in Nashville and will make their European debut in 2023 as an Official Showcase Artist at Americana Week UK in London. Sandhya’s name (pronounced SUN-thee-ah) comes from an ancient Sanskrit word meaning the gray area conjoining opposites - such as twilight or dawn - it's the perfect moniker for a literary songwriter who plays with harmonic complexity and deep groove, with joy and sadness, with snarky wit and earnest world-weariness. In 2018, she began working closely with renowned vocal instructor and producer Pete Strobl (best known for coaching Eddie Van Halen and his son Wolfie). Together they produced the new record Innocent Monster, 10 new original songs that map out a journey from contemplative jazz-influenced singer-songwriter to full-on art-rock diva. Miles Gannett doesn’t sit still creatively. The Louisiana native, who now calls Maryland home, hears the seamless character of all music, blending and balancing strains of bluegrass with psychedelic folk textures, classic country phrasing with the propulsive notes of acid rock, and earthy blues with spectral ambience. His inventive lyrics marry the probing meditations of Jason Isbell with the story-song style of Townes Van Zandt and John Prine and the lilting rhythms of Willie Nelson. With his earlier band, Fractal Cat, he built a reputation on Baltimore’s airwaves and live music scene. Gannett and engineer/producer Frank Marchand (Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, We Banjo 3) made Fractal Cat’s third album The Tower, and Gannett started working on his “first countryish album,” which reflects his deep love of progressive bluegrass and classic country. The result is Meridian, a dazzling debut solo effort featuring members of the Seldom Scene dobroist Fred Travers and banjoist and mandolin player Ron Stewart. Gannett’s warm vocals carry listeners on shimmering waves of pedal steel through various musical landscapes. Orchester Praževica - Eastern European fusion inspired by musical cultures along the Danube River from Bratislava to the Port of Ismail in the Black Sea. Resistance is futile,m! This Turbo Folk, high energy dance music drawing on the tradition of Czardas and Gypsy Swing, but widely influenced by jazz and blues. Under the direction of Slovak born and raised guitarist and singer Tomáš Drgoň this band delivers honest, authentic and entertaining mix of folklore, jazz and dance music.
