Description
I am a guitar player interested in forming a post-rock trio.
Loaded term, so let me explain more about where I'm coming from...
First and foremost, I take a lot of inspiration from the Asian math rock style bands such as toe and Elephant Gym.
Other recently trending acts like Polyphia and Covet fall under the same tent for me. I'd love to do something similar - guitar playing interesting but singable melodies or chord progressions featuring lots of colorful extensions; driving, prominent bass; and a drummer that can fill the space, who does not just play the kick on 1 and the snare on 3. Vocals are a thought, but not really mandatory for this project. We can talk about that more.
This is a for fun and validation kind of original project. Low pressure, friendly and creative atmosphere with no timelines. I see sharing ideas regularly and meeting to play somewhere between monthly and biweekly, unless there's some reason to rehearse more.
About me: I'm 35 and have been playing since I was 12. I love classic prog such as Yes and ELP, as well as jazz, bebop, and soul (especially New/Neo Soul). I also like electronic music and hip hop. Can I play like Tim Henson or Yvette Young? No. They are the top 1% of commercial players today. No one on Craigslist can play like the people involved in these bands, but try hard enough, and maybe we'll land on an opening stage or get a review on Fecking Bahamas during a slow week. If this sounds good to you, shoot me an email on CL mail relay and we'll take it from there.
