Expand The Classroom, Engage Your Students We warmly invite Long Island's science teachers, school curriculum administrators and our educational partners to join our upcoming Speaker Series breakfast conference where our distinguished panelists will discuss how they are connecting students to the environment by using local watersheds as an extension of the traditional classroom. Q&A session follows the discussion. From history to data collection, our creeks can serve as an extension of the traditional classroom and a window into the health of the Great South Bay. Today's students represent the next generation of local stewardship. How better to engage them than with hands on experiences? Our distinguished panelists include: - Melissa Parrott, Pine Barrens Commission, Co-Coordinator, Day In the Life of a River Program - Lou Siegel, NYS Marine Educators Association, President - Robert Vasiluth, Eel Grass Restoration Specialist They will discuss how we can bridge education and local stewardship by using creeks and other marine programs within and/or as an extension of our traditional classrooms. A Q&A session follows the discussion. We encourage all participants to arrive promptly at 8:00 am to enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast while networking with colleagues. Panel discussion will begin promptly at 8:30 am with plenty of time for Q&A. Save The Great South Bay, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to protecting and preserving the Great South Bay.
