Description
The Outstanding Jazz Band of OC is now founding and calling for musicians within geographic reach of this area. I play sousaphone (tuba) and 4-string jazz banjo. I am seeking replies from those who play clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums and piano/KBs. Anybody who plays sousaphone, tuba, string bass, banjo, guitar, etc. is welcome to reply to this ad. Anybody who plays ukulele, tambourine, the spoons, washboard, kazoo, maracas, etc. are all welcome to reply so that I can have your name and contact information on file for future reference. My plan is to assemble a "Roaring Twenties Jazz Age/Speakeasy" style Traditional, aka Dixieland jazz band go cover material from late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. Artists covered include The Original Dixieland Jazz Band (ten-inch Victrola records, later coverage) Bunk Johnson, Lu Watters, Turk Murphy and the Yerba Buena Jazz Band (post-war revival era) I will furnish all written (standard music notation) charts and recordings. Numbers include At The Jazz Band Ball, Ostrich Walk, Ace In the Hole (Mitchell & Dempsey 1909), Five Foot Two, etc. I would also like to cover vintage TV themes, movie soundtrack tunes depending on whom I can get and what instrument they play. I can do arranging and scoring. Once prepared I would like to go out to perform in public for entertainment and educational purposes, possibly, but not necessarily for profit. Thank you in advance for your reply.
