Choosing Our Roots (“COR” or “Owner”) is requesting proposals for limited design and renovation work
for a residential apartment building located at 3905 Carolina Drive in Anchorage, Alaska.
COR anticipates a contracting structure whereby COR will contract directly with a general contractor
(“GC”) who will perform necessary design work and oversee and/or perform renovation work (the
“Project”). All subcontractors anticipated to be engaged by GC for any services or work on the Project
will require COR’s prior approval.
COR was recently awarded a $500,000 grant from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund
(“SLRF”). Grants funds made available through the SLRF program are intended to provide relief to the
negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency and target assistance to businesses
in need, including those serving disadvantaged communities.
In support of the SLRF’s objectives, COR was able to purchase a residential apartment building, which will
be used to temporarily house participants awaiting host home placement. In order to ensure COR’s new apartment facility is best able to serve our community, COR is seeking a local contractor to perform certain renovations and updates to the building. Funding for these renovations will be provided by remaining SLRF funds. Additional renovations may be forthcoming in the future.
