Description

WORCESTER, MA — MassDOT will soon begin a major bridge renovation project along I-190 in Worcester, and that means a main exit will have to close for more than a month. During construction, MassDOT will be rebuilding and resurfacing I-190 bridges that carry traffic over the Providence & Worcester Railroad line that runs under the freeway just south of Gold Star Boulevard. Beginning Aug. 2, the northbound I-190 exit 1 to Gold Star Boulevard and West Boylston Street will close for 45 days. A detour will take drivers to exit 2 at Frontage Road. From there, drivers will be able to take Mountain Road to Route 12 to reach the Gold Star Boulevard and Greendale areas. That's not all: during the work, MassDOT will reduce the number of north and southbound lanes to two rather than the usual three. MassDOT will also close the I-190 on-ramp from Route 12 on July 31 and Aug. 1 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for prep work.
