WAYLAND, MA — The state fiscal year 2023 budget passed by the legislature Monday includes some funding boosts for Wayland schools.
The state's main education funding program — called Chapter 70 — increased from about $4.7 billion in last year's budget to $5.1 billion in fiscal 2023. Wayland's Chapter 70 aid also got a boost from $5.3 million in the last school year to $6.1 million for fiscal 2023.
Wayland High School will also get a boost in the budget, if Gov. Charlie Baker signs off. Among the hundreds of earmarks in the bill, the high school sports field will get $25,000 to upgrade lighting.
The budget was hammered out in a conference committee and unanimously passed both chambers. Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has 10 days to sign the budget.
