Department: Sales FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Status: Full Time Reports To: Detail Manager POSITION SUMMARY Clean and refurbish new and used automobiles, performing any combination of the following duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Wash vehicle exterior to clean cars using cleaning solution, water, cloths, and brushes. • Apply wax to auto body and wipes or buff surfaces and preserve shine using cloth or buffing machine. • Vacuum interiors of vehicle to remove loose dirt and debris using vacuum cleaner. • Clean upholstery, rugs and other surfaces using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devises. • Apply revitalizers and preservatives to vinyl or leather surfaces and treat fabrics with spot and stain resistant chemicals to preserve and protect interior components. • Clean engine and engine compartment with steam cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents to remove grease and grime. • Apply special purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which do not respond to normal cleaning procedures, utilizing experience and following recommendations of the product manufacturer. • Apply dyes and reconditioning chemical to vinyl tops of vehicles to restore color and condition. • Perform other tasks as assigned. • Properly uses all required personal protective equipment. • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with all personnel. • Maintain a professional demeanor while on the job. • Treat members of the public in a courteous and non-discriminatory manner. • Conform to the company’s policy on non-discrimination and harassment. • Drive customer vehicles to and from detail shop area to customer parking. • Drive new and used automobiles to and from detail shop area and to sales lots as directed. EQUIPMENT/MACHINERY/TOOLS USED Pressure washers, steam cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaning equipment, air compressor, water hoses, water buckets, sponges, polishers, hand held squeeze bottles. PERSONAL PROTECTVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED. Goggles, rubber gloves, respirator/face mask, rubber boots. Possible Chemical Exposure Numerous chemical products are handled on a frequent basis as a normal part of this job. In order to recognize and protect him/herself from chemicals in the workplace, the employee will attend training in the company’s hazard communication program (worker’s right to know), utilize chemical list, utilize material safety data sheet (MSDS) file. Utilize required personal protective equipment at all times. Physical Demand: Standing: Intermittent, not more than 80 % of working day Walking: Intermittent, not more than 80 % of a working day Sitting : Intermittent, not more than 20 % of a working day Lifting: Maximum of 50 lbs. on an infrequent basis. Carrying: Maximum of 25 lbs. on a frequent basis.
