MEC is an industry-leading manufacturer of electronic equipment. We are looking for a mechanically-inclined individual to join our Transformer Department. The Transformer Assembler will help the production managerby winding transformers using semi-automatic winding equipment. This may include electrical testing of transformers. Additionally, they will connect coils to terminals and build up the supporting structure of power transformers, according to applicable drawing requirements and work instructions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required by production needs; this may include being temporarily moved to another department or area to help out or cross-train. • Wraps insulation around coil and secures with adhesive tape. • Drives fiber wedges between coil and core, using mallet to hold coil around leg of transformer core. • Crimps leads to magnet (coil) wire. • Crimps tags to lead wires to conform with wiring diagram. • Assembles support structure, clamping angles, terminals, tanks, or cabinet panels. • Fabricates coils and assembles component parts to build electric power, distribution, or specialty transformers according to blueprints and wiring or work instructions. • Winds copper wire around jig, fixture, or spindle to form primary coil. • Fabricates secondary coil on copper plate of specified thickness. • Varnish dip transformer. • Clean and ink stamp part numbers/date code. • HI pot test transformers and check for continuity. We will Train motivated and reliable applicants Must be legally allowed to work in NY State/United States Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
