About to move to Chicago in a few weeks and seeing what’s out there. A bit about me: I’ve been a gigging musician in Memphis for a while (playing on Beale, private events, the STAX museum, and smaller festivals). I’m from Memphis but also lived a few years in Texas and played several gigs in Lubbock, Austin, and the DFW area. I’ve been in a lot of different bands but have been a hired gun for the last year or so. In the past, I’ve mainly been hired as a lead player, but can hold down rhythm (I can do numbers, but prefer to have time to actually learn songs rather than play them on the spot). I have experience in R&B, blues, rock, metal, and garage/punk. I can do vocals, but I’m not the greatest singer. I’m moving to Chicago to go back to school, so that will be my primary focus (no gigging 5 nights a week anymore :( ). I’d prefer to find a group focused on originals, but am open to doing covers as well. I have my own gear and transportation. With my new schedule, I can manage 1-2 nights a week for music, so if you’re looking for a full-time member of a group that plays constantly, I may not be able to fulfill that role. I would love to find a few others that are good at their instruments, can improvise, and learn to talk to one another. Genre-bending stuff that is fun to play would be ideal.
